Questions about Caresoft BBMS
Short answers to the questions blood bank teams ask most about Caresoft BBMS: what it checks, which rules it supports, how it connects to HIS, where data is stored, and how to try it.
All questions
What stops a nurse from transfusing the wrong bag?
At the bedside, BBMS asks for the patient wristband and the bag to be scanned and refuses to continue if they do not match the issue. Two staff must confirm.
Can BBMS issue blood in an emergency before grouping?
Yes, but only O negative red cells or AB plasma, and only with a medical officer's credentials. The emergency is recorded and grouping continues on the sample.
Where is our data stored?
Cloud installations run on servers in India with daily backups. On-premise installations keep all data on your own server.
How is access controlled?
Each person has their own login and role. Medical officers and administrators can be required to use two-step sign-in with an authenticator app. Every change is recorded in the audit trail.
Does BBMS work during internet outages?
Cloud installations need internet at the blood bank. The camp tablet app works fully offline and syncs later. On-premise installations work on the hospital network.
Which languages are supported?
Staff screens are in English. Donor screens and messages are in English, Hindi and Marathi; more languages can be added.
Can we connect our existing analysers?
Yes, in Enterprise. Results from analysers arrive through an API and always need verification by staff before use.
How long does go-live take?
A single storage centre can go live in about two weeks: setup, data import, training and a short parallel run with paper registers.
Who supports us after go-live?
Caresoft's support team, the same team that supports Caresoft HIS at more than 1,000 hospitals.
Is there a free trial?
Yes, 30 days with test data. Start it from the trial page or ask our team.
