Software for licensed blood centres
For licensed blood centres, Caresoft BBMS Standard handles donors, camps, collection, TTI testing, component preparation and release. A reactive test result automatically discards every component from that donation, defers the donor and traces earlier donations for look-back.
What happens when a TTI result is reactive?
The moment a verified result is reactive, BBMS acts without waiting for anyone to remember the SOP.
- Every component from that donationis discarded automatically, wherever it is stored
- The donoris deferred: permanently for HIV, hepatitis B and C; for your set period for syphilis and malaria
- Earlier donationsfrom the same donor are put on hold and traced to recipients for look-back
- Notificationto the donor is tracked confidentially, visible only to medical and lab staff
How does donor screening work?
Counsellors enter the questionnaire, weight, haemoglobin, blood pressure, pulse and temperature. BBMS checks each against the thresholds you set (defaults follow NBTC guidance), checks donation intervals, and records deferrals with a reason and an end date. A screening can be used for one donation only.
Can we run camps without internet?
Yes. The camp tablet app works offline: register donors, screen them in their own language, and record collections. When it syncs, the server re-checks every donor; a donor deferred at the centre after the tablet downloaded its data is flagged and held for the medical officer.
